My individual SL project was helping a local youth track team raise money by washing cars for donations only to go to the AAU Junior Olympics in Orlando, Florida. The name of the local team is called the Tri-City Jets who are based in Chesterfield County. They have regularly schedule practice at Meadowbrook High School and have a majority of there track meets in the Tidewater region of Virginia every other weekend starting in the spring with their last major meet at the Junior Olympics. Last year's Junior Olympics was in Detroit Michigan, this year it is in Orlando, Florida. I enjoyed helping the kids wash every car as they worked very diligently to raise funds for the "Super Bowl" of track meets. I had a chance to talk to the head coach while washing and I learned that he and his wife started the team about three years ago to keep their own kids out of trouble. They themselves were active in track and field in high school. They started off by training their four kids who are all still actively on the team . They now train over 20-25 children from ages seven through twenty who compete in all track and field events.
